British Columbia needs more renewable electricity to meet long-term demand and climate targets. That goal is real and important.

The process ahead
The next critical step is the Detailed Project Description. The proponent must meaningfully respond to the issues raised and show where feedback has been incorporated — or explain why it was not.
Acknowledging concerns is not enough. The next test is whether the project changes.
Our Position
The official engagement record confirms that the proposed project faces broad and serious concerns. Before any further approval, the proponent should be required to clearly address location, scale, water, wildlife, grazing, recreation, cumulative effects, Indigenous rights, cleanup responsibility, and long-term land restoration.
A renewable energy project should not be allowed to create permanent local damage under the banner of climate action. Responsible energy requires responsible siting.
The submissions created an official record. The next phase is about making sure decision-makers, regulators, local governments, and affected Indian bands do not ignore it.
